It was revealed in October 2014 that it will be Marvel Studios’ first female-led superhero picture. The film’s production began in May of 2013. The story follows Danvers as she becomes Captain Marvel when Earth becomes embroiled in a cosmic battle between two extraterrestrial civilizations in 1995. It is the 21st film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, produced by Marvel Studios and released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (MCU).
